At the moment things are very car centric and this impacts on quality of life when the town is busy. We need to change the mindset and encourage greener transport - enhance cycle lanes, restrict cars to the seafront, provide train information and offers to get there.

Yes this makes sense as it is much larger and has the potential to become better in terms of quality if it is done right.

a. do you think a greater mix of uses should be allowed such as retail, cafes and bars

There are variations in the quality of this type of establishment - we don't want to be going for the lowest common denominator as this just cheapens the town and oftentimes it is a short term fix. For example, there are always lots of food businesses springing up that don't stay for long. Incentivise quality community based options such as ones that really engage locally, Project 49 being a good example. The knock on effect of having more residential accommodation in the town must be considered in terms of noise affecting the new residents.

Westcliff is full of low value establishments and we don't want to see any more of this. Leigh is fine it just needs better parking!

Who could argue with planting more trees? It makes for a calmer and more pleasant atmosphere - greening of all our spaces should be encouraged.

Stop promoting the car over other means of transport. This will help to reduce pollution as well as creating a safer environment.
