We are concerned that the Guide seems to omit any specific policy on lightning. There is only a statement on p26 (88) that 'parking areas should be well lit' and a further ref on page 29/101 - Lighting and Boundaries. It is essential, especially in such a large urban area, that lighting should be designed to ensure that it is directed downwards and does not add to the glow in the night sky. We hope that the final document will include a policy to this effect.
1. The Guide tries to be comprehensive, but this leads to it being rather wardy and repetative. We are concerned that the length of the document will mean that developers find it difficult to use.
2. This is an important document for this lovely build-up Borough where greenfield development is not an option.
3. The document contains good, relevant policy links which are important when so many policies have to be considered.
