Section 11 – Southend’s Neighbourhoods
In Leigh Town Council’s opinion, the key issues facing the neighbourhoods are community safety; air quality (especially at school junctions and traffic calming measures); parking stress (conflict between residents and business); cliff spillage. The neighbourhoods feel neglected for central Southend. We have concerns regarding the promotion for Southend to become a city as there has been no consultation or consideration as to how it would work and the effect it would have on neighbourhoods.

Better dialogue and transparency by the Borough Council, visible community policing. The introduction of more parish councils could have a positive effect on the communities in Westcliff, Shoebury, Eastwood and Thorpebay which in turn to lead to devolution of facilities and services to benefit those communities and the Leigh Town Council community more
